Holidays and celebrations call for intuitive creativeness all year round, especially when your home is the place friends and family look forward to crashing for special occasions. This does not go in vain due to your attentive catering skills and outstanding guest-hosting repertoire. What friends and family don’t see is the pressure of topping last year or just pulling it off period and the stress of coordinating décor, food, music, and much more. This becomes even more of a headache when your orange curtains you fell in love with during a summer bohemian phase does not go with your Christmas theme.

After finally figuring it out, you have no energy to be the life of the party or even enjoy it. And guess what… you have to take it all down, put it all away, bring your house back to normal, and start all over again. If you are the hostess with the most-est and always entertaining the fam-bam or your friends who are like family then you need to have an approach that will benefit you and your party-like life.

Here are some helpful decorating tips that will de-stress your life and reorganize the way you throw parties:

• De-clutter: Get rid of any items you constantly remove when creating a festive environment. If it can’t blend then it doesn’t belong. Aren’t we neutralizing up in this bitch? Then why have stuff that doesn’t go with anything? Find a way to neutralize by spray painting it, putting in storage, or selling it.

• Paint: This is based on what kind of entertaining you usually commit to such as kids parties, Easter brunch, Christmas dinner, thanksgiving, or general and random gatherings. White walls can be boring, but it can also be your friend. Items will be placed in front of or on blank walls so treat them like a diverse backdrop for a video shoot of choice.

• Furniture: Neutral colors don’t have to stay within a light palette of whites and grays. You can create a neutral environment with a navy blue couch, black chairs, olive rugs and so on. This kind of neutral can also be friendly towards holiday decorating and can be incorporated into like-colored themes unlike purple, yellow, or pink.

• Throw Pillows: These can be easily swapped out by season so keep these light and simple.

• Table setting: Dining should be interesting so place white bowls on top of swapped out colored plates for specific occasions and keep utensils the same. Napkins and center pieces can be changed accordingly. White faux flowers can also be used repetitively during transitions. Plants are diverse and will come in handy. If this isn’t as important as other décor then purchase all clear dining essentials for a modern look.

• Storage: Things like ottomans, cabinets, and coffee tables with closed doors can help with temporarily hiding personal treasures that are crowding your space for occasions.

These little tips can decrease the amount of work you will have to put forth in being the mastermind event planner you are.
